Papers must be written in either German or English. They will be sent to members of the board and/or freelance experts for critical review. Authors are asked to follow the directions given here, especially with regard to the correct citation of literature. The editors will ensure that papers are printed as soon as possible. Authors do not have to pay page charges. Fifty off-prints are provided free. Further off-prints may be ordered at current prices when proofs are returned.

Papers submitted for publication in Studia dipterologica must not have been published or submitted for publication in other journals. Authors will be informed of any extensive corrections or changes to be made to their submissions. The editors reserve the right to make minor textual corrections that will not alter the authorīs meaning.

Papers must comply with rules laid out in the fourth edition of the ICZN 1999. All species dealt with must be given at least once in full (with author and year of description, interposed by a comma [Art. 22, Recommendation 22A. Method of citation ICZN].
In the main text genus and species names must be written in italics and authors names in small capitals. In papers on taxonomy the abbreviations gen. nov., subgen. nov., spec. nov., syn. nov., comb. nov., s. l., s. str. etc. should be used.
Papers must contain both an English and a German summary. Each must be followed by a selection of not more than 10 key words (English) or "Stichwörter" (German). The editorial board offers to translate English summaries and keywords into German.
Order of sections of the paper (English manuscript): Title of the paper - author(s) - abstract - key words (not more than 10) - Zusammenfassung (a translation of the English abstract into German); - Stichwörter (German translation of the key words ) - main text of the paper [subdivided into introduction, material and methods, results, discussion] - acknowledgements - literature - complete address(es) of the author(s).

Please note that within legends of figures and tables, scientific name(s) of the species figured or mentioned in the headline of a table has (have) to be mentioned in full. Scale bars for the figures are recommended.
Fig. 1-3: Stilpon nubilus Collin, 1926. - 1: wing; - 2: head lateral; - 3: antenna. Scale bar = 0.2 mm.
Table 1: Localities of Stilpon lunatus (Walker, 1851)

Please use for the male sign the symbol $ and for the female sign the symbol § in the text.

(Please do not use special fonts within the main text.)

Manuscripts must be sent as typed, double spaced copy with wide margins and on floppy disc. All common IBM-compatible text programs can be accepted and an ASCII-file version will also be welcome. If possible please use the italics (genus- and species-names), small capitals (AUTHORS) and bold (head-lines) as appropriate. Do not use hyphenation with "hard" hyphen.

Hints on the section "Literature"
The names of all authors should be given, and journal titles should be in full and unabbreviated. Please add the town where the journal is edited. If this is not known to the author, the editors will supply the missing information. If there are more than two authors of a publication, citations in the text should use the term "et al." It is not necessary to give the number of single issue within a volume, but where the pagination within a volume does not run continuously, the number of the issue should be given [e.g.: 32(5): 2-6;...].
